Monthly Maintenance, scheduled 8 months ago

Maintenance is complete. Notes on changes and additions follow below. As always, you can find current or upcoming maintenance details at. https://www.rc.fas.harvard.edu/monthly-maintenance

NEW SCRATCH FILESYSTEM The new scratch filesystem to replace Regal is now online at /n/scratchlfs Regal will remain usable until March 4th after which it will be set read-only until May 4th when it will be decommissioned. Please move any data you care about as soon as you are able.

  • For more info on moving data on the cluster, see: https://www.rc.fas.harvard.edu/resources/documentation/transferring-data-on-the-cluster/
  • Policy for scratch remains the same: https://www.rc.fas.harvard.edu/policy-scratch/

FASRC VPN UPDATES Our VPN system has been upgraded and the clients it supplies have been updated to newer versions. If you have an older client, you will be required to update it (this is the same version as used by the FAS VPN). If you experience problems with the automatic update, you will be prompted to manually download and install the client.

NX NODES & OLD LOGIN NODES The NX/NoMachine nodes are far outside their end-of-life and have now been decommissioned. Please use our VDI system for remote desktop services. You can also launch several GUI apps directly (Rstudio, Jupyter Lab, Tensorboard, and more) with the new system.
